Appraiser gripes

I've been appraising real estate for 36 years now (http://www.gerardappraisalcompany.com) and I've never seen a climate like this...ever. What this market creates for us appraisers is one challenge after another. Maybe if we put our heads together and hash them out, we can come up with solutions to some of the issues we face every day. To name but a few, decreased work load, higher level of scrutiny in appraisal review, hvcc, licensing issues, number of licened appraisers and whether or not we can expect that number to decrease, cost of doing business, ethics, marketing, etc. Is there value in pursuing a professional designation, how do we set ourselves apart from the rest? Where is our profession heading? There are many more issues out there for us, but that should be a good place to start. if we don't take a hand in dealing with the problems of our profession, they won't get fixed.
